Commander - Army

Kermit earned his eligibility to the VFW in serving in the US. Army / Illinois Army National Guard from 2000 to 2009. Kermit served 9 years as an 88M Transportation soldier. On February of 2003 Kermit was deployed to the Kuwait / Iraq theater for Operation Iraqi Freedom. His job being convoy security (MK19 Gunner and secondary .50 cal Gunner). Serving an 18 month deployment from February 2003 till September 2004. Aside from his deployment overseas. He served State side deployments of Operation Cresent Relief (Hurricane Katrina relief) as well as Quick Reaction Force for then President George Bush and former President Bill Clinton during the opening and ribbon cutting of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield, IL. 

Kermit joined the VFW right after his deployment to Iraq in 2004. During that time he has served the following roles. Post Jr. Vice Commander 2018, Post Sr. Vice Commander 2019, Post Commander 2020 to 2023, Post Judge Advocate 2023 to 2024, District 4 Jr. Vice Commander 2020 to 2021, District Sr, Vice Commander 2021 to 2023, District 4 Color Guard 2022 to current, District 4 Commander 2023 to current, Department Asst. Membership Chairman 2024 to current, National Aide-De-Camp 2021 to 2022. 
Kermit is also a member of the American Legion.
